Twill is a fabric similar to khaki pants fabric. It is sturdy but not as heavy as canvas. Canvas can get quite heavy when patches are added. Twill gives the support without the weight.
The vest is machine washable. All edges are stitched using a cover stitch (see photo).

Measure the chest with a shirt on under the arms
Loosen the tape measure as you would like the vest fit to allow for movement and growth.
